Residential Electrification

The Residential Electrification Dashboard is an interactive tool designed to help California residents assess the financial and environmental impacts of electrifying their homes. It offers localized simulations that compare utility costs and emissions under various energy plans and electrification scenarios.

This tool enables users to:

• Compare PG&E and Community Choice Aggregator (CCA) electricity plans based on cost and emissions data.
• Simulate electrification scenarios by inputting gas and electric appliance efficiency, usage, and conversion rates.
• Estimate solar panel return on investment (ROI) using location-specific output and 20-year financial modeling.

Emissions are estimated using global lifecycle data for each energy source (e.g., wind, solar, nuclear, hydro, biomass, natural gas, coal). Solar estimates leverage the NREL PVWatts API and reflect system degradation, inflation, and time value of money to provide a realistic cost-benefit analysis.

Future features include:

• Time-of-Use (TOU) and seasonal rate modeling
• Address-specific delivery rate estimates
• EV adoption and charging impact simulation
• Downloadable reports and historical trend visualization
